It’s time again for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews.
Today’s topic is: Recipes from Fiction Books That I Want to Try
This one was tough. Honestly, I don’t really read books with recipes (I used to — I think it’s a rule all cozy mysteries have recipes, lol, but I’ve stepped away from reading those the past few years for some reason).
When I homeschooled my daughter, we actually had a book that was an add-on to the Little House on the Prairie books that had crafts and recipes from the series. That was a ton of fun for the most part (my kid was amazed you could take a container of heavy cream and shake it and make butter. Me? When I was younger and lived “off the land” with no power, we had goats and I used to churn butter in an actual old time churn. I do remember being shocked it wasn’t yellow the first time I did it).
But if I could make something from a book, I honestly think I’d make numbweed from the Dragonriders of Pern series.
Yeah, the characters always complained about the stink of making it, but how handy would it be to have a cream that numbed you instantly that you didn’t have to get a prescription for? I wish we had something that grew here like that!
Wouldn’t mind trying klah either…
